That is why many stations are simultaneously broadcasting both analog (old) format and digital (new) format. There will probably be converters on the market. However, with new technology, people will probably want to upgrade anyway. The sales will probably be very convenient by the time the switch occurs. Many set are digital ready, just as cable-ready sets were all the rage a decade ago. Plus, like the "v-chip" (evil) and closed captioning decoders, digital receivers will be mandated on televisions in anticipation of the switch. Digital technology is wuite easy to implement, and it won't be cost prohibited like other changes (stereo and color). --- In probe_control@yahoogroups.com, "dghprobe3" wrote: > --- In probe_control, Lady Talara wrote: > > Panivision and cinemascope looks horrid on anything less > > then the big screen. This was the location used for the Ullman chateau in the "Probe" pilot movie. In addition, many movies and shows have used this location. "The Name of the Game" episode of 13 November 1970, "All the Old Familiar Faces," features a number of scenes of Burgess Meredith in the mansion and walking the grounds with Gene Barry. Rather eerie to see these scenes, knowing much of the "Probe" pilot was filmed there about a year later. The Greystone mansion apparently has a real-life history all it's own, more intriguing than any movie or TV show ever filmed there. I did a Google search for +Greystone +"Beverly Hills" and +mansion and found some articles with photos listing some of the many movies filmed at the mansion, going into some Doheny family history & scandal, with a list of famous visitors, plus directions to the place. While the grounds are a public park, the actual house is locked to the public except for summer concerts in the mansion's living room: http://www.seeing-stars.com/Live/Greystone.shtml http://www.beverlyhills.org/presence/connect/CoBH/Homepage/Local+Gover nment/Departments+and+Offices/Recreation+and+Parks/LG-RP- Greystone_Mansion_Park http://www.usc.edu/isd/archives/la/scandals/greystone_mansion.html http://www.usc.edu/isd/archives/la/scandals/greystone.html --- In nameofthegame, "anotherwaytogo" wrote: <<>> http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nameofthegame/ 2735 From: "Jim Alexander" Date: Tue May 4, 2004 2:48am Subject: Greystone Mansion & Probe pilot probecontrol Absolutely FASCINATING, Don! The government doesn't want to let everyone know that they sold the digital stations at a bargain price. Local broadcasters don't want to let everyone know that they will be showing substandard material until they upgrade. No one wants to say anything. Interesting things about the broadcasting. Has anyone ever worried about the "v-chip?" I don't think it's Leslie Stevens, but makeup can do anything. :-) Famed director Alfred Hitchcock sometimes had a shot of himself inserted into his movies. Gene Roddenberry did the voice of the chef in "Charlie X" saying there were 'turkeys, real turkeys' in the Enterprise galley ovens. When asked why Gene did that, he said "that's my Hitchcock for Star Trek." Leslie Stevens did do the voice of Martian Computer control in one of the original "Outer Limits" episodes, so he could have done something similar for "Search," but I haven't noticed anything so far. There were the audio references in "Countdown to Panic." Listen closely to the hospital speakers when they call for "Dr. Burns" and "Dr. Stevens," an apparent inside reference to writer Judy Burns and exec. producer Leslie Stevens. 2740 From: Mike Valerio Date: Wed May 12, 2004 5:35pm Subject: Re: Leslie Stevens' Hitchcock? mvscreen >>> the vidcap from "Probe" of the murdered diplomat Andre de la Russe. Folks in the US will need NTSC format unless you have conversion equipment, or know of someone who can convert. Thanks for alerting us to the shows. Have they ever run "Cool Million" over there by any chance? I think there were only 4 eps of that and for "Madigan" as well. Sunday afternoons on Hallmark Channel, they are running "McMillan & Wife," "Banacek," "Kojak," "Hawaii 5-0," "Magnum PI," "The Equalizer," "Quincy, ME," "Matlock," and "Spencer For Hire." Saturdays at 1pm, Midnite and 1:30am, Hallmark runs Doug McClure's earlier series "The Virginian." http://www.hallmarkchannel.com/ 2746 From: "Geoff Willmetts" Date: Sun May 16, 2004 6:12am Subject: RE: Off Topic: Snoop Sisters gfwillmetts Hello Skip.
