Couldn't hurt. :) I just finished watching a few episodes of my Columbia House NIGHT STALKER collection, as well as the new DVD release of THE NIGHT STALKER/THE NIGHT STRANGLER TV Movies. Fun stuff! And while some might call the KOLCHAK TV movies 'brilliant'... I don't think anyone's ever referred to the TV show with that word. ;) And I don't think that any TV maven has ever referred to SEARCH (though we listmembers might disagree) as 'brilliant' either. This isn't a SLIGHT to either series... but merely to put them on somewhat the same level. A helluva lot of fun to watch, and perhaps a bit visionary in their own right(s)... but not--as much as hate to admit it--necessarily 'brilliant.' So what I'm saying is... if THE NIGHT STALKER made it to Trio's 'Brilliant but Cancelled' series... then SEARCH could potentially make it, too. I stumbled on http://www.darrenmcgavin.net/ a few months ago. McGavin has been in relatively poor health for a while now, but for his wife Kathy to've passed on before HE did, I believe, was a surprise. For anyone who logs onto the site, it has very much the feel of a Love Letter from McGavin to Kathy. There're scores of photos of the two of them. Very sweet. I've not run across a NIGHT KILLERS script there (it would surprise me if it was there--I wouldn't think that Richard Matheson would be too keen on that, but then, as has been said, it was apparently taken out of his hands. What do *I* know.). ;) I HAVE run across a rather good script (at least the passages *I* read were pretty good) called RETURN OF THE NIGHT STALKER somewhere on the web, and printed *IT* out. The guy says he has no formal scriptwriting-training, but the script was VERY much in the style of a professional Hollywood script. One of the reasons that series enjoys the cult status it has today is because The CBS Late Movie acquired and ran it during the summer of 1979, then ran it again during 1988. I've often wondered if CBS had done the same thing to "Search" that it would have improved it's chances for distribution in the U.S. I guess we will never know for sure. I've heard that there were plans for a third "Night Stalker" movie, but that it was re-worked into a different movie about the paranormal, "The Norliss Tapes," starring Roy Thinnes. Trio might not be the best bet for "Search," as I've read that Trio is owned basically by Universal Studios, so notice that they run mainly Universal/Revue product. Some interesting surprises turn up on that channel every now and then, such as Johnny Staccato. Since "Search" was produced by Warner Bros., it makes more sense to promote it to cable outlets connected to Time-Warner, such as Turner's TNT, which ran "The Man From UNCLE" rather frequently not long ago. TNT also ran the one-season "Logan's Run" back then too. The trouble with "Search" being distributed may be due to some rights problem we don't know about. It's possible that Stevens and O'Brian gambled that the show would become popular and had contracts that paid big for the first few reruns, more than a studio might want to shell out today for a show which not too many people remember (although we recall it fondly here). Maybe if Cheryl Ladd had appeared in more "Search" episodes as a regular, that's the only other thing I can think of that could've helped. --Don 2840 From: yorktowncmdr@... Skip 2844 From: "dghprobe3" Date: Sun Sep 12, 2004 5:49pm Subject: Re: OFF TOPIC - Need Help! dghprobe3 Hi Skip: Again, no need to worry. Viruses simply do their thing. Even if you could trace the email directly to the sender's computer (which is doubtful, although apparently law enforcement can do it), you may find that it was triggered by a virus in that person's computer, not sent deliberately. The Internet is evolving into a complex animal nowadays, simply because there are more and more things out there that can affect your computer than previously. Keep doing regular virus and firewall updates, catch up on spyware (Spybot Search & Destroy), and check into the other free virus scanners, browsers and such which are out there (like Mozilla or Firefox). If you have Windows, check into the regular Microsoft update patches, however the hackers are finding ways around those too. Below is a recap of the two spoofing incidents on this list during Jan. and July 2004. It was Don-2 in Msg 2447 who mentioned you in connection with the first incident, but again, it wasn't something deliberate on your part as viruses go through address books and do their own thing. I will pass on this tidbit that is rather helpful.... Someone suggested that if you are besieged by those address book e-viruses, you can help eliminate it from spreading to all your friends with a simple fix. Most e-viruses will send to all the people on your list as carbon copies (CC), but will initially send to the first person on your list, alphabetically speaking... So if you create an entry in your address book with the name "AAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" the e-virus will try to send to it first. Then, you create an incomplete email address for the bogus name. Presumably, when the e-virus cannot send to the first person on your list, it will give up. As an added measure, you can create more than one AAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAA listing, and also create two ZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ listings, in case the e-virus is instructed to go to the bottom of your addy directory, and work backwards. Prophet Livingood's Video Trading List Most of my movies and television series are in SP Mode (2 hr tapes) unless otherwise noted. I have recently invested in a DVD-R/DVD+R/CDR recorder so I am current- ly converting all of my vhs tapes to dvd as vhs is now becoming obsolete. If you pre- fer your movie on DVD or VHS, let me know! If a `even-trade' can not be achieved, then I ask a mere $5.00 per 2 hr tape or disc. VCD's can hold a 45 minute (1 hr tv show `minus commercials') and yes I do edit commercials at no extra cost! If a title is currently available from retail outlets I will not copy it so as to avoid copyright infringement arrest and/or lawsuit. Most of what I have is in the public domain or is rare, hard to find and outdated.
