I've got suspicions that Clive Cussler has contributed to the story. If this were so, Cussler is uncredited for the writing. I see that Richard Donner directed "Danger Island." Earlier on this list, someone mentioned the SMDM episode "Wine, Women, and War." There are apparently scenes of the bad guy's headquarters that include some Probe Control computers and other equipment. If anyone can confirm this, let us know. :-) And don't forget that Cannon episode, "Quasar Kill," which has a scene where Cannon and another man are discussing a highly important technical device, and at the end of the scene, the man hands over to Cannon... a Probe scanner! I don't have this on tape, and I've only seen this once, but if someone comes up with a dub, let us know. :-) --Don 3374 From: Date: Thu Oct 6, 2005 5:16am Subject: Re: Danger Island actingman_jc Taping from where? > >Subject: [probe_control] Danger Island > From: yorktowncmdr@... > Date: Wed, 5 Oct 2005 23:19:01 EDT > To: probe_control@yahoogroups.com > >For nostalgic reasons I've been taping the "Danger Island" of the 1968 >Saturday kids' show "Banana Splits." I will add that Richard Donner directed the "Danger Island" adventures. > > I'm curious why you're suspicious that it might be Cussler that's > contributing, David. What's the deal there? I don't entirely have anything tangible. During the '60s Cussler began writing for TV. This includes the sitcom "Mothers-in-Law" with Eve Arden, Kaye Ballard, and Roger C. Carmel before he turned to writing his Dirk Pitt adventure novels during the mid '70s. Cussler hints at "Danger Island" in "Shock Wave." First, within "Shock Wave" there is a map showing Danger Islands off the Anarctic coast. Within the novel circumstances lead our adventurers Pitt and Giordino tracking a passenger. The passage goes as follows: Giordino: If your mystical intuition is on target, the only change (the ship) has for striking hard ground ... is on one of three small islands... Pitt: What are they called? Giordino: Danger Islands. Pitt: They sound like the setting of an adolescent pirate novel. (Ref "Shock Wave" pg. 95). It's a suspicion, but I think it's a good one. I will add that some people were not credited for their work in "Banana Splits." Notably, Jonathan Harris after "Lost in Space" was canceled can be heard contributing as the voice of Athos in "The Three Musketeers" vignette. > > Jim Alexander > 3387 From: yorktowncmdr@...
