The Canadian actor also enjoyed roles in the series Mission: Impossible, Columbo and the original Battlestar Galactica. ---------------- One of my better memories of Bochner is from what is generally considered as THE GREEN HORNET pilot (but was far from the first episode filmed), among many, many other fine performances. Deep as Universal's library is, it would be pretty exhausted after a year or so. This may be our best hope yet for the show to find a home. 3396 From: yorktowncmdr@... I loved him in anything he was ever in, but that's my favorite performance of his. No one could play a villain like him, and his voice was to die for. About halfway through the show, there is a clip from the 1974 Emmy awards. The one who opens the envelope and reads that Carroll O'Connor won best actor in a comedy series was -- Doug McClure, standing next to Connie Francis. Then O'Connor got to the podium to say a few words. Another one of those oddities that turn up every now and then. And I plan to add this clip to the various "extras" I send out with episodes. :-) I'll also see if I can post a few screen grabs and/or an audio clip shortly. 3399 From: Jorge Arce Date: Fri Nov 11, 2005 5:48pm Subject: Fwd: RE: Another fine 60s/70s character actor passes away jormaple Note: forwarded message attached. Been some time since I've posted here, due to troubles with my old PC. Now that I have a new one, I intend to come around and participate a little more. Anyhow, thanks, Jim, for posting the sad news about Lloyd Bochner. He was truly an amazing actor--I enjoyed him in so many diverse roles, from the scared scientist in the Twilight Zone classic "To Serve Man" (he parodied the classic ending to this episode in the feature film "Naked Gun 2 1/2"...I know of at least one person who didn't get that inside joke) on down to his role as the conniving Cecil Colby on Dynasty, who died while having sex with Joan Collins! And there were hundreds, upon hundreds, of great guest shots in between. I did a tribute post to him on my Quinn Martin Yahoo Group, which focused on the guest shots he did in QM series. God Bless you, Mr. Bochner, and rest in peace. Best, Mark 3402 From: Mark Speck Date: Sat Nov 12, 2005 6:57am Subject: Just a thought... elvimark Hello again! Apologies if this has been mentioned before...but has anyone considered the cable channel American Life as a possible outlet for Search? About 90 % of the reruns on their channel are from the Warner Bros. vaults (ranging from Maverick and The FBI on down to The Gallant Men and Bourbon Street Beat)...so why shouldn't they give Search some consideration? They have a Wednesday night secret agent lineup which consists of I Spy, Girl From UNCLE and Man From UNCLE. I think Search would be a perfect fit (Girl From UNCLE only lasted a season, like Search--perhaps when Girl gets played out, they could replace it?). Hi Mark: Welcome back, it's good to hear from you again. Your suggestion is a good one. Why don't several of us send American Life a letter or two as you mentioned? All we need now is contact info or a snail mail address. Remember, if any of you can somehow legitimately use company letterhead, that can help add weight to your letter as they may think you could be a potential advertiser. :-) --Don 3404 From: "Morningstar" Date: Sun Nov 13, 2005 7:13am Subject: Re: Just a thought... am2star Here is the link for American TV. http://www.goodtv.com/ --- In probe_control@yahoogroups.com, "dghprobe3" wrote: > > --- In probe_control, Mark Speck wrote: > > Apologies if this has been mentioned before...but has > > anyone considered the cable channel American Life as a > > possible outlet for Search?... > > Hi Mark: Welcome back, it's good to hear from you again. Looks like it might be a reasonable opportunity to see SEARCH. Looks like they're gonna need a *lot* of programming. ;) Jim Alexander ================================ http://www.fandominion.com/news/internet/#000057 New AOL In2TV service to feature classic Sci Fi and Fantasy series It looks like Time Warner finally knows how to fully integrate AOL into its media offerings. The company plans to use AOL to launch six new advertising-supported on-demand Internet TV channels under the brand name In2TV. Each of the channels will feature programming drawn from more than 4,800 episodes from the Warner Brothers television library. The new rerun channels scheduled to debut in early 2006 are: LOL TV - Sitcoms Dramarama - One-hour dramas Toontopia - Animation Heroes and Horrors - Science Fiction and Fantasy (mostly) Rush - Action Vintage - Misc. classic TV Of the channels, three are of major interest to fans of science fiction and fantasy. Heroes and Horrors is obvious, it will feature such shows as Wonder Woman, Babylon 5, Lois & Clark and The Adventures of Superman. Toontopia will air reruns of animated fare such as Pinky and the Brain and Beetlejuice. Rush will, along with mundane police dramas, will feature spy-fi fare such as The Fugitive and La Femme Nikita. For the service AOL says it has developed a new way of encoding video called "AOL Hi-Q," which it say will allow DVD- quality full screen video. In2TV also plans to have computer- based games and viewer polls designed to accompany the series. According to press reports and a company press release, AOL will be offering about 300 new episodes a month of about 100 TV series in the first year of operation. AOL did run into one major hurdle in its effort to rebroadcast some of the old Time Warner shows on the Internet. The company said the complex nature of music copyrights forced it to re-master some of the series to replace some of the soundtrack music with new, original music because there was a problem with royalties in some instances. So, even though some of the oldies may look the same as when they were first broadcast, they may not sound the same. 3406 From: Date: Mon Nov 14, 2005 5:05pm Subject: SEARCH paperbacks on eBay probecontrol The SEARCH and MOONROCK paperbacks are both available in the same auction on eBay: See eBay #8351239811 Thanks-- Jim Alexander 3407 From: "Mike" Date: Sat Nov 19, 2005 3:52am Subject: Hello All. kc8nqa Hello All, It's been awhile since I've posted, although I have checked in on a couple of occassions to read the post and I downloaded the Screen Savers - Nice Job!, they look great. In addition to all that has been mentioned, Mr. Andes also had a recurring role on I Spy (as one of Culp and Cosby's contacts) and made frequent appearances on Quinn Martin-produced series. He worked with Spinner on Dan August prior to working on Search, and they worked together once again in a Spinner-produced Cannon episode, "The Investigator", in 1975. His sons were musicians Mark Andes and Matthew Andes, who have performed with a number of popular acts, including Spirit, Jo Jo Gunne, Firefall and Heart.
