Jim #4080 From: "Geoff Willmetts" Date: Sat Oct 21, 2006 9:29 pm Subject: Re: Re: 70s SFTV Hello Jim Not entirely sure about SF predicting the future. It tends to extrapolate the present. I mean, nothing was really predicted about computers as they are today just mauraudering AIs dominating the world. Mind you, Search did get their uses pretty accurately, didn't it?? If SF was correct and ignored financial restraint, then today would be an Arthur Clarke reality sans the monolith. Shame about faster than light travel let alone time travel. :-) Geoff ********* GF Willmetts **************************** Commissioning Editor: http://www.sfcrowsnest.co.uk or http://www.computercrowsnest.co.uk THE SCIENCE FICTION AND FANTASY MAGAZINE THE E-BOOK PUBLISHER THAT TRIES HARDER WE DON’T CHOOSE OUR RANK POSITIONS, OTHERS PUT US THERE:- AOL AOL ranks SFcrowsnest #1 most popular SFF site on the Internet http://search.aol.com/aolcom/browse?id=906&source=subcats Yahoo Yahoo ranks SFcrowsnest #4 most popular SFF site on the Internet http://dir.yahoo.com/Entertainment/Genres/Science_Fiction_and_Fantasy/ DMOZ DMOZ ranks SFcrowsnest #1 most popular SFF site on the Internet http://dmoz.org/Arts/Literature/Genres/Science_Fiction/ Google Google ranks SFcrowsnest #2 most popular SFF site on the Internet http://directory.google.com/Top/Arts/Genres/Science_Fiction_and_Fantasy/ *************************************************** #4081 From: Date: Thu Oct 26, 2006 4:11 pm Subject: SEARCH Paperbacks on eBay I've seen these in better shape, but anyone interested in a no-muss, no-fuss way of picking up SEARCH and MOONROCK in paperback should check out eBay auction #130041003435 $12, Buy It Now. I've seen references to scanner replicas being sold on ebay, but I'm curious as to what prices they bring, and just how big around they really are. BTW, did anyone ever figure out just how many Probe agents there are?
