Bill Webb's Filmclip Sampler #1

Below is a sample of Bill Webb's SEARCH filmclip collection. (Give the scenes a few seconds to load.) Most of them are from clapboard clips because they give a good "behind the scenes" glimpse of the series. Below left is one of the red globes from the opening credits sequence, while below right is Lockwood's suit and tie from "The Murrow Disappearance."

Below are various shots from "The Gold Machine" when the series was still being called "Probe." Below left is Arthur Burrell at medical telemetry (it looks like Burgess Meredith is holding the clapboard), while below right is an unusual shot of Probe Control from Griffin's station.

Below left is a clapboard over Angel Tompkins. This was the scene where Gloria tells Murdoch that she would be way ahead sticking to her console. Below right is from "Operation Iceman," the scene where Bianco (Franciosa's stand-in) scans through the Bibliophile.

The scenes below are from "Short Circuit."

Below is an example of clapboards having the same scene and take number. The shot with Keach was with "A" camera, the shot with Murdoch was with "B" camera. The two camera setup also helped maintain a sense of timing in dialogue.

More shots below from "Short Circuit."

Below left is from Probe Arnold Hiller's point of view just before encountering Dr. Carl Moen. Below right is from Grover's point of view as passengers debark Hiller's plane.

Shots below are from "The Adonis File." Below left is Deanna Lund as Ms. Harte, and below right is Ginny Golden as Ms. Keach.

Below left is Cam from "In Search of Midas." Below right is "one snake in the rocks" from "A Flight to Nowhere."

Shots below are from "A Honeymoon to Kill." Below left is apparently the scene where Grover meets Julian Whitfield at the air terminal, below right is the wedding of Julian and Carla.

Below left is a Modern Film Effects graphics sequence from "A Flight to Nowhere," while below right is a rare shot of a Kodak Gray Scale color chart.

When I first saw the scenes below, I couldn't place them by episode. Upon closer examination, these appear to be gag shots put together by some of the SEARCH post-production crew. The two fellows pictured below were probably film editors for the show. Notice in the picture below right that one of the men is looking at a strip of 35mm film from a reel. Maybe one day someone who worked with the series may be able to identify these people.
